Scott was born and grew up in the state of Washington. He graduated in 1980 from Evergreen High School in Vancouver Washington, where he was also an assistant wrestling coach. Thereafter, he attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon and took up wrestling for two seasons, wrestling in the 118lb. and 126lb. divisions. He then transferred to Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington, where he wrestled 2 years and coached 1 season for the Mascot Eagles. He graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication and Education and began teaching and coaching in the Evergreen School District before he left for Orange County, California in the fall of 1988. There, he spent two years as Head Coach at Marina High School in Huntington Beach. More


It is a privilege to have Santa Ana High School Wrestling Standout Jose Leon on Staff with the Saints. He is on his 3rd season as a teacher and assistant coach for the school. Jose wrestled at the 119lbs. weight class all four years of high school and also played varsity football his sophomore and junior years. He finished his career with 129 wins and 21 losses graduating with a 3.5 GPA and “Scholar Athlete Honors” from Santa Ana High School in 1999. He placed 3rd and 7th in the state and was a 2x CIF Champion. Jose wrestled in the High School Nationals at 112lbs. and won the championship match with a takedown and near fall in the final 8 seconds of the bout. Jose went on to Boston University on a five-year wrestling scholarship. At Boston, Jose was a 4x NCAA Qualifier and during his junior year ranked among one of the top 125lbs. wrestlers in the Nations. While at Boston University, He earned a B.A. in Social Science, a Masters in Education with a teaching credential. Jose lives in the City of Orange and is currently teaching World History.


Tony wrestled at Independence High School in San Jose where he was a 3x state place winner. He won the state title his junior year along with his team winning the title as well. Tony was also a high school national champion his senior year. After graduation, he went on to wrestle at North Idaho Junior College in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. An injury stopped his career short. He went to Bible College where he earned his pastoral degree. Tony recently earned his Masters at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. Tony has been a tremendous addition to the staff. He has a real heart for the kids and is on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He now helps direct the FCA Huddle Meetings at school every Monday during lunch time. He is an excellent instructor and brings a great deal of wrestling knowledge to the team. He owns a home in South Santa Ana.




Jaime is a 2001 Graduate of Santa Ana High. He was a 3 year varsity letterman for the Saints. Jaime has proven himself as a dependable and committed athlete and coach. He adds stability to the coaching staff as well as his bizarre sense of humor. He shows a genuine interest in the squad and is dedicated to improving their wrestling skills. Jaime is on his seventh year of coaching for the Saints. He is currently in school pursing a degree in education and lives in Santa Ana.





In 2006, The Saints were fortunate enough to add Tim Byers to our teaching and coaching staff at Santa Ana High School. He is originally from the great wrestling state of Ohio. He spent most of his teaching and coaching career at Yucca Valley High School. There he helped lead the wrestling team to 5 CIF Championship titles. He spent 14 years coaching at Yucca Valley until he was called to Orange County. He spent the 2005-2006 school year teaching business and coaching wrestling at Orange High School. He picked up a credential in Math and was hired to teach Algebra I and Geometry at Santa Ana. He currently resides in Lake Forest with his wife Lisa, who teaches history at Trabuco Hills High School.



Luis is in his second year of teaching and coaching at Santa Ana High School. He comes to us from Pacifica High School in Garden Grove. There he was the head wrestling coach for 2 years. He was also the head wrestling coach at Rancho Alamitos High School for 2 years. He was a 3 sport, 4 year varsity letterman in high school. Luis is a true student of the sport. He attends The Martin “Granby School of Wrestling” Camp every year it comes out to Southern California. He adds a great deal of knowledge and technique to the Saints mat style of wrestling. Luis is also a 19 year veteran football coach and has coached Santa Ana’s freshmen football team for the past two seasons. He teaches history and is currently living in Garden Grove with his daughter.



Richard is our newest addition to the Santa Ana coaching staff. He comes to us from Orange High School, where he coached for 6 years as an assistant and head coach. In the 2005-2006 season he helped lead the wrestling team to its first CIF Dual appearance in the programs history, in that same season he received OHS Coach of the Year honors. In 2007 he became the youngest head coach in the programs history. He was a 2 year varsity letterman and league place winner at 140 lbs. for Fullerton Union High School in 1999. Richard's unique ability to communicate with athletes will truly benefit the Saints wrestling team. He has a vibrant passion for coaching and looks to improve the wrestling techniques of this year's squad. He is currently pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts and is wrestling for Santa Ana College. He currently resides in the City of Yorba Linda.
