Jose Leon (Class of 1999) ended his high school wrestling career as one of the top wrestlers in the Nation. As a Soph, Jr. and Senior Jose Leon wrestled at the 119lb weight class. He began wrestling as a freshman and had no prior competitive wrestling experience. His overwhelming dedication and undying love for the sport motivated him to the success bestowed upon him today. Dropping to 112lbs for the Nationals, Jose wrestled his way to attain a National Championship. He defeated top ranked wrestlers throughout the country. In 3yrs as a varsity wrestler he compiled a career record of 155 wins 30 loses with 332 takedowns his senior year.

He finished his senior year with a 3.5 GPA making him SAHS School Athlete of the Year. Better than that was the full ride scholarship he has taken to attend Boston University and wrestle under Coach Carl Adams. At Nationals: With 8 sec. left of the match, Leon puts Noto of New Jersey on his back for a 12-8 win and a National Title. Team California won the National title with 255 points. Ohio was runner up with 234. California had 3 National Champions Lopez, Valholla 103; Leon, Santa Ana 112; Odom, Foothill, 140.
